I would be pleased to make&#38;nbsp; a custom order piece for you. Custom pieces are the result of an ongoing discussion between you and me. After giving me your needs: dimensions, colors, references and other details, you will receive one or two digital sketches. 
We discuss if adjustments are needed before you approve the final sketch, pay your deposit, and from there I begin the production.

	After graduating in Textile Design from Ghent’s KASK Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Emma worked together with various brands and institutions, from Henrik Vibskov and Bless to the Tilburg Textile Museum, before establishing her own studio by the end of 2020.
&#38;nbsp;Emma Terweduwe creates pieces that are luxurious  and expressive, combining natural and durable materials, strong and colourful graphic design, and her unique process of felting woven fabrics. 
By making textiles that are meant to stimulate our sense of touch, Terweduwe’s tactile works offer a critique on our fast-paced and superficial society, which increasingly values appearance over substance.
For Emma, collaboration with other master artisans is a central component of her philosophy – both as a means to create a textile piece of the highest quality, and as a way to preserve important local crafts and traditions. 
Her approach is deliberately slow and considered, applying digital tools to analogue processes without compromising on the characteristics of a handmade object. Using natural materials with subtle yet expressive properties, her woven works assume an organic and tactile feeling, brought into the present by bold graphic patterns. 
Apart from her own collection of textile pieces, Emma also offers tailor-made solutions and offers her knowledge and aesthetics as freelance designer for other clients. Don't hesitate to contact her for any inquiries or collaborations.

	Duo Exhibition (SOON) Gallery

This time ( s o o n ) brings together the Belgian textile designer Emma Terweduwe and German sculptor Lisa Tiemann. 
At first sight, two very different bodies of work that somehow fuse wonderfully well.
 For Terweduwe it is the first expo that combines so much of her work in one place. Before coming to ( s o o n ) gallery she will present her work mid-April at Salone del mobile in Milan.
Lisa Tiemann, based in Berlin, has shown extensively in Germany, all over Europe and even in New York. Last February she was selected to show her sculptures outside at the Van Nelle Factory during Art RotterdamOPENING19 May&#38;nbsp; &#124;&#38;nbsp; 16h-20h20-21 May&#38;nbsp; &#124;&#38;nbsp; 14h-18hFINISSAGE17-18 June&#38;nbsp; &#124;&#38;nbsp; 14h-18h

	ATP PROGRAM TEXTIELLAB TILBURG


Materials play a big role in the notion/
discussion of sustainability. We need to use more recycled yarns / natural /
natural dyes .... But we never talk about how we deal with the fact that
these materials will change over time and might fade or decay sooner than
new materials by influence of use and nature.&#38;nbsp;
With this work I wanted to use change and process, designed in and as part of
the work to rise awereness of its importance towards longevity and the
relationship we have with our belongings.

								
This textile piece raises questions about physical change and decay
and how we as humans deal with that. It also questions to the emotional relationships people develop with objects: Incorporating change and
encouraging longevity by turning time and memory into tangible elements
of the design.

	JBC STORES

Hand tufted rug design and matching handwoven pillows commissioned for the new concept stores of JBC .

JBC's new concept stores focus on ecological and local materials and makers. Emma was asked to design a rug and matching pillows for the fitting room area. The result is a hand crafted and hand tufted rug made with the softest wool and matching pillows, who are handwoven with the leftover yarns from the rug on Emma’s loom in her studio. In this way no materials went to waste and each pillow became a unique handwoven piece.
