TAPESTRIES "A TOUCH TO TREASURE - OVERLAYS OF TACTILITY"
"A Touch to Treasure" is a collection of jacquard woven tapestries and rugs. It is a research into the the use of layers within the jacquard technique. These pieces play with the duality of visual depth and real layers within the jacquard weaves. Both the front and back of the work express each a different kind of tactileness, so your curiosity gets drawn to both of them equally.
Realised in collaboration with TextielLab, Tilburg.
WEARABLES "A TOUCH TO TREASURE - OVERLAYS OF TACTILITY"
Our hands, the space, our body are essential in shaping the textiles that surround us. These three inter-human aspects are the ‘tools’ that give the flat surface a three dimensional value. Only through interaction and use can you discover its full possibilities, exploring its different facets. Felting and manipulating cause wrinkling, shrinking, movement and distortion. Overlays of different tactilities come together on the body and in space: a monumental softness, a raw poetry, a minimalistic richness. The body becomes part of the fabric, shapes the fabric and disappears in it. Merging into a new way of existing, challenging our interaction with them. The result is a series of wearable jacquard pieces as part of my master collection, made to fit your own expression and gestures.

VIDEO "FOLD UNFOLD, TRY CAN'T ERROR"
This video explores and researches the different ways one jacquard piece can drape the body. It researches how the fabric changes from a flat surface into a new dynamic shape when worn. Overlays of different tactilities come together on the body and in space. The body becomes part of the fabric, shapes the fabric and disappears in it. Merging into a new way of existing, challenging our interaction with them. The result is this video about the interaction with these wearable jacquard pieces as part of my master collection, made to fit your own expression and gestures.
"LOVING THE WORN CARING FOR THE TORN"
Lucerne Switzerland, 2017
This project started from the feeling of nostalgia and tangible meaning a piece of textile can have throughout our life. Such as the memories they carry and the stories they tell. You might discover you have a deep connection to them.
Woking with my own baby blankets, I started covering the little holes, the wear and tare the blankets had gone through, with colorful embroideries. The result is a series of blankets, embracing and even accenutating the wear and tare and by that also the memories they carry. Remembering they are a work in progress, happy to be adapted or repaired by you with tender, loving care.
Ghent (BE)/ Lucerne (Switzerland), 2017
This embroidery project(ion) started by looking closely at the changing things in everyday life and that underwent the passing of time.
Marks! Marks that are left by use, traces of characteristics that have faded or disappeared and which are now defined by what is left.
This project translates the analysis of these into embroidered textiles, what happens when threads break out of their secure structure? Do they start a new life? Should we interfere or let them be?
I research possibilities, new pieces that start from those leftovers full of stories without forgetting the term value in all its aspects.
The dynamics and transparencies of these pieces tell us more then we could imagine as we walk their story back to its origin.
